Inclusive leadership is a continuous journey of learning, growing, and adapting to meet the evolving needs of our communities.
This course is for professionals in conventional child care leadership roles (including child care providers, supervisors, directors, managers, and board members) who wish to begin or continue their inclusive leadership journey. However, because inclusive leadership is a shared responsibility, the information in this course is relevant for all child care professionals, including emergent leaders, early childhood educators and assistants, support staff, responsible adults, and other community members that work with children.
Course goals
This course aims to support leaders in weaving inclusion into every stage of program delivery by exploring identity, awareness, care, and collective wisdom. We encourage leaders to do so by practicing the 4 Bes: Be authentic, Be curious, Be responsive, Be reflective.
By the end of this course, learners will be able to:
- Describe how their personal identities influence their leadership style.
- Increase awareness of how others’ lived experiences shape their perspectives and actions.
- Use their understanding of their identity and awareness of others to deliver quality care.
- Strengthen their ability to build relationships and improve practices using collective wisdom.
- Consistently apply the 4 Bes in all areas of their practice.
